What the fuck is "It"?

How many of you remember playing Tag when you were a kid? Do you remember the last game of Tag you played? Do you remember how it ended? I’m not really sure, but I always remember Tag ending in a kind of unresolved manner. The end of the game was usually signaled by the end of recess or having to go home for supper or something. I was trying to dig back in my memory and remember if I somehow am still “It” for some reason or another. I don’t think so, but it is highly possible that I have gone through my entire adult life being “It” and not having the opportunity have closure by tagging someone and making them “It”.

Being “It” might look pretty good on a resume or be a pretty snappy answer to a dumb job interview question. Check it out:

Interviewer: “Why do you think we should hire you instead of another candidate for this position?”

Me: “Because I’m ‘It’.”

Interviewer: “Thank you very much for your time. We’ll be in touch with you if we find a position that matches your skill set.”

What is “It” anyway and why did kids run away from you when you were “It”?
